Utah Logos Eligibility Criteria

Gas

    Fully Qualified
    • Licensed by the appropriate public agency
    • Fuel, oil, and water
    • Modern sanitary facilities and drinking water
    • Telephone
    • Located within 3 miles of the exit
    • Continuous operation for at least 16 hours per day, 7 days a week
    Marginally Qualified
    • Continuous operation for at least 12 hours a day, 6 days per week. Must display the day closed on the logo panel(s)
    • Exceptions up to 15 miles in rural areas or where approved by UDOT

Food

    Fully Qualified
    • Licensed by the appropriate public agency
    • Telephone
    • Continuous operation for at least 14 hours per day serving 3 meals per day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), 7 days per week.
    • Indoor seating with tables for a minimum of 16 people
    • Modern sanitary facilities
    • Must have a sign that is readily visible from the street
    • The primary business of which logo is displayed is serving prepared food
    • Located within 3 miles of the exit.
    Marginally Qualified
    • If the primary business is not serving prepared food, the logo sign of a grocery store, department store, or other non-tourist service related business containing the restaurant shall only be displayed when the deli/restaurant has no other name
    • Indoor seating and tables for a minimum of 10 people (except that in the case of a take-out food service, where their only operation is prepared food services)
    • Operation of 10 hours per day and serving at least 2 meals per day for at least 6 days per week
    • Exceptions up to 15 miles in rural areas or where approved by UDOT

Lodging

    Fully Qualified
    • Licensed by the appropriate public agency
    • Telephone
    • A minimum of 4 rooms of hotel or motel space with modern sanitary facilities
    • Located within 3 miles of the exit
    Marginally Qualified
    • Exceptions up to 15 miles in rural areas or where approved by UDOT
    • Bed and Breakfast type facilities with a minimum of 2 rooms for sleeping accommodation and available modern sanitary facilities

Camping

    Fully Qualified
    • Licensed by the appropriate public agency
    • Minimum of 20 camping spaces
    • Modern sanitary facilities and drinking water
    • Adequate parking – at least 1 space per campsite
    • Continuous operation 24 hours per day, 7 days per week
    • Located within 3 miles of the exit
    Marginally Qualified
    • Minimum of 12 camping spaces
    • Exceptions up to 15 miles in rural areas or where approved by UDOT
    • Remove or completely cover signs if operated seasonally (fees may apply)

Attractions

    Fully Qualified
    • The facility must have a primary purpose of providing recreational, historical, or cultural activities to the public and is of regional significance
    • Licensed by the appropriate public agency if applicable
    • Telephone
    • Continuous operation for at least 8 hours per day, 7 days per week
    • Adequate parking for at least 20 spaces
    • Modern sanitary facilities and drinking water
    • Not displayed on any other freeway guide signs
    • Located within 3 miles of the exit
    Marginally Qualified
    • Exceptions up to 15 miles in rural areas or where approved by UDOT
    • Adequate parking – at least 10 spaces
    • Continuous operation for at least 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Must display the day(s) closed on the logo panel(s)

Pharmacy

  • Licensed by the appropriate public agency
  • The pharmacy shall be continuously operated 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and shall have a State-licensed pharmacist present and on duty at all times
  • Located within 3 miles of the exit

If available logo space is not utilized by fully qualified companies, the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) may at its discretion permit other facilities meeting a majority of the criteria to use unused spaces. These facilities will be considered marginally qualified. Such facilities' right to use logo spaces shall be reevaluated on an annual basis.
